Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime in Iceland as we go on the hunt for the beautiful autumnal colors on Iceland’s rugged landscape and in search of the majestic Aurora Borealis?

This 4 night Iceland Photography Tour is based on the South Coast of Iceland. We’ll be visiting a few of the country’s most beautiful & iconic locations, to name but a few but not limited to; Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Reynisdranger Sea Stacks, Jokulsarlon’s Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach and the almighty, Vestrahorn Mountain. At night, we’ll be chasing those majestic northern lights.

This Iceland Photography Tour has been planned with the photographer right in the center, we’ll go where the light is at it’s best or getting you to where we’ll have clear skies to watch and photography the Aurora Borealis. Although we are working from a fixed itinerary, do not despair, it won’t be a case of getting 15 minutes to photograph each location, we’ll have plenty of time to explore the areas and if we’re driving down the road and you spot something you like, then we can and will stop!

As with all my photo tours & workshops I like to keep the numbers small, and this photo tour is limited to only five people! This allows me to spend more one on one time with you, helping you with any questions you may have.

Our transport for the week will be in a spacious 9 seater 4×4 Volkswagen Caravelle, so plenty of room for you to snuggle up and catch some sleep.

Who is this Workshop & Photography Tour for?

This workshop is aimed at photographers who want to improve and take their landscape photography to the next level. You will learn how I plan my sunrise & sunset shoots, how to focus for maximum DOF, you’ll learn more about composition, rule of thirds, leading lines, how & when to use filters, long exposure photography. During the night you will learn how to focus in the darkness, how to shoot really long exposures, how to create star trails and how to shoot the majestic northern lights!

This is not a sight seeing tour or a beginner’s photography course where you learn the basics of Photography such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO. You MUST already understand the exposure triangle, how it works and how each of the settings affect each other. This is not a luxury holiday where we spend time relaxing by the pool and topping up our tan.

This is a photography workshop intended for like minded people who share a passion for shooting landscapes, both the classic spots but also the not so classic spots. We’ll spend a week living together, eating together, shooting together, sharing our stories, sharing our passion for photography. This will be an intense trip, we’ll be shooting when the light is at it’s best and that’s during sunrise & sunset, we’ll be shooting in all conditions from rain, hail and snow to those rare blue skies. We’ll sleep when we can, when the light is at it’s worst.

I can guarantee you by the end of the week, you’ll be going home with new friends, great images but you’ll also be ready for a good sleep 😉

Photographer & Guide
I may have been born in Ireland, but Iceland is where my heart is.  I’ve been travelling to and photographing Iceland now since July 2015 and since then I’ve been 8/9 times and I truly can’t get enough. From the waterfalls on the South Coast, to the mountains in West to the famous Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon with its icebergs to the many black sand beaches – it really is a photographers paradise.  I’ve clocked up thousands of miles and many many hours driving on the Icelandic “roads” from the south's paved roads, to the east's gravel roads, to the rocky highland roads.  Elsewhere in Finland & Norway, I’ve over 3 months of driving experience on snow & ice, in blizzards and in complete whiteout conditions.  Not only am I an experienced photographer and driver, but I’ve also worked professionally as a Northern Lights Tour Guide 300 miles North of the Arctic Circle in Finland.  When it comes to chasing the Northern Lights with me, I’ve got a 100% success rate, I've got them exactly where they needed to be and that was with clear skies, or into position waiting for them to appear.

Still not convinced? Here’s what past attendees have to say.

  • I was out at the Giants Causeway on Friday night with Tyler and Steven Hanna. Very informative workshop, great lads. Felt at ease the minute I walked into the room. Would definitely book another workshop.

  • Just back from the the Iceland workshop taken by Tyler. i must say i have never experienced anything like it. From the time we met Tyler at the airport to the end of the 5 day/4 night stay in Iceland everything was planned to perfection ie tyler hired a mini bus with plenty of room for everybody. We stayed in Log Cabins which had everything from warm showers to comfortable beds and all mod cons for cooking. Tyler drove us to the locations and helped us setup our cameras and what to look for. Thanks Tyler for everything and what a stunning place iceland.

  • I recently returned from a 7 day photographic tour of Iceland, expertly led by Tyler. He brought us to some amazing sights along Iceland's southern coast. With Tyler providing much-appreciated photographic guidance throughout - particularly around composition, using filters, metering & post-processing. During our visit, we had some challenging weather conditions but Tyler's knowledge of the area allowed him to adapt our itinerary and help ensure that we made of the most of our time on the island. I look forward to taking part in future trips/workshops with Tyler.

  • I participated in Tyler's Iceland workshop last week and have to say I had the most AMAZING 4 days. Tyler's knowledge of photography and Iceland were invaluable to making the whole experience so memorable. He is very patient, courteous and never left a location until we were all happy with our shots. He would review our images and offer advice and encouragement. He drove long distances to make sure we covered as many of the photo opportunities that the varied landscape of Iceland has to offer. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Tyler's Iceland workshop and hope to do another in the future.

  • First of all, you can not go wrong with Tyler. My wife and I were planning a trip to Ireland for the end of May and I thought this would be a great opportunity to get some professional help with my photography, so I started researching about a month before we left. I sent out many emails and researched many companies and people to provide the assistance I needed. Tyler was the quickest to respond and after several emails back and forth I decided to go with Tyler. My reason, he was quick to respond, spoke to me as a friend would and not a client, his prices were fair and he made me comfortable with the entire process. A quick side note, I was still getting responses after we returned from Ireland. My wife and I both spent the day with Tyler and had one of, if not the best outing of our two week trip. Tyler was just as I had anticipated, friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to please. I ended that day with the best photos I have ever taken. We're thinking about a trip to Iceland and you can bet we will have Tyler as our guide and expert. Tyler, we thank you for a great day!
