Are you ready for a Donegal Photography Tour?

Join me, March 2020 in Donegal as we explore the Northern Headlands.

Untouched, and virtually unexplored, where do I even begin to describe Donegal. Donegal to me is Ireland’s nicest county. With its dramatic Atlantic Ocean coastline, white sand beaches, waterfalls, famine villages, castles, offshore Islands, dirt tracks that lead to mountain tops, Donegal is a place that just has it all.

It’s no wonder Donegal was named the “Coolest Place on the Planet for 2017” by National Geographic Traveller.

My Donegal Photography Tour focuses on us exploring the best photography locations Donegal has to offer.  From the most beautiful lighthouse in the world, Fanad Lighthouse to Europe’s highest sea cliffs, Sliabh Liag and everything in between.

As with all my Photography Tours & Workshops I like to keep participant numbers small, and this photography tour is limited to only four people! This allows me to spend more one on one time with you, helping you with any questions you may have.

Our transport for the week will be in my Land Rover Discovery.

Tour Highlights & Itinerary

Each morning we’ll be out for sunrise, after sunrise we’ll go grab a coffee and quick breakfast, onto the next location.  Back to the hotel around midday for a small break, then back out again around 3pm, shooting until after sunset.

Generally 3 locations are visited each day, some days we’ll visit more, it just depends on how much time we spend at locations.

The itinerary is subject to change depending on weather conditions, as a rule of thumb, it would need to be absolutely bucketing down for us not to be out.

Day 1 – Arrival Day – 27th March 2020

The Workshop starts at check in from 2pm at Highlands Hotel, Glenties. After you’ve dropped your luggage into your room, and changed into suitable outdoor clothing, we’ll begin immediately by heading out to location for sunset.

After sunset we’ll head back to the hotel grab dinner and share stories before retiring to bed early.

Day 2 – 28th March 2020

An early start, on location 45 minutes prior to sunrise at approx 6:15am. Out shooting all morning, returning to the hotel around midday for a few hours break, backout again around 3pm, shooting right through until after sunrise.

Again, after we’re finished shooting the sunset, back to the hotel again for dinner.

Day 3 – 29th March 2020

Early start again, on locations 45 minutes prior to sunrise. We’ll be out all morning, back to the hotel around midday, back out around 3pm shooting again until after sunset.

Day 8 – Departure Day – 30th March 2020

You’ll have the choice of finishing up at midday or after sunset.

Once again, an early start, on location 45 minutes prior to sunrise. Out all morning again and back to the hotel around midday.

Who is this Workshop & Photography Tour for?

This workshop is aimed at photographers who want to improve and take their landscape photography to the next level. You will learn how I plan my sunrise & sunset shoots, how to focus for maximum DOF, you’ll learn more about composition, rule of thirds, leading lines, how & when to use filters, long exposure photography. During the night you will learn how to focus in the darkness, how to shoot really long exposures, how to create star trails and how to shoot the majestic northern lights!

This is not a sight seeing tour or a beginner’s photography course where you learn the basics of Photography such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO. You MUST already understand the exposure triangle, how it works and how each of the settings affect each other. This is not a luxury holiday where we spend time relaxing by the pool and topping up our tan.

This is a photography workshop intended for like minded people who share a passion for shooting landscapes, both the classic spots but also the not so classic spots. We’ll spend a week living together, eating together, shooting together, sharing our stories, sharing our passion for photography. This will be an intense trip, we’ll be shooting when the light is at it’s best and that’s during sunrise & sunset, we’ll be shooting in all conditions from rain, hail and snow to those rare blue skies. We’ll sleep when we can, when the light is at it’s worst.

I can guarantee you by the end of the week, you’ll be going home with new friends, great images but you’ll also be ready for a good sleep 😉

Still not convinced? Here’s what past attendees have to say.

  • I recently returned from a 7 day photographic tour of Iceland, expertly led by Tyler. He brought us to some amazing sights along Iceland's southern coast. With Tyler providing much-appreciated photographic guidance throughout - particularly around composition, using filters, metering & post-processing. During our visit, we had some challenging weather conditions but Tyler's knowledge of the area allowed him to adapt our itinerary and help ensure that we made of the most of our time on the island. I look forward to taking part in future trips/workshops with Tyler.

  • Just back from the the Iceland workshop taken by Tyler. i must say i have never experienced anything like it. From the time we met Tyler at the airport to the end of the 5 day/4 night stay in Iceland everything was planned to perfection ie tyler hired a mini bus with plenty of room for everybody. We stayed in Log Cabins which had everything from warm showers to comfortable beds and all mod cons for cooking. Tyler drove us to the locations and helped us setup our cameras and what to look for. Thanks Tyler for everything and what a stunning place iceland.

  • I participated in Tyler's Iceland workshop last week and have to say I had the most AMAZING 4 days. Tyler's knowledge of photography and Iceland were invaluable to making the whole experience so memorable. He is very patient, courteous and never left a location until we were all happy with our shots. He would review our images and offer advice and encouragement. He drove long distances to make sure we covered as many of the photo opportunities that the varied landscape of Iceland has to offer. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Tyler's Iceland workshop and hope to do another in the future.

  • What an amazing week that was ! I already visited Iceland once in the past but a dedicated photography workshop really makes a huge difference. And Tyler is no stranger to the success of last week workshop. First keeping voluntarily the number of participants low (we were 4) makes the experience more 1-to-1 style, more personal. Easier to get advice on composition, equipment,….. Tyler really works hard for everybody to have a wonderful time and to get back home with pictures to be happy with, sometimes driving very long distance just to get the right light at the right moment. He also constantly adapts the schedule to both weather conditions and participants wishes. Don’t be deter by the relative lower prices compared to the crazy expensive 15-participants workshop one finds on internet. This just makes the choice of Tyler’s workshop even more straightforward. Would I go for another workshop with Tyler ? Tomorrow without any hesitation! Thank you Tyler ! Thank you ! Thank you !

  • Just came back from Iceland from one of Tylers workshop and had the time of my life. I learnt so much from this workshop. Tyler was very attentive to all that were on the group, answered all my questions without hesitation. If you are looking to have more knowledge in photography this workshop is exactly what you want and need. You will go back home wanting more. Thank you for all.
